The Coquihalla Snowmobile Club wanted someone to upgrade their website a few years ago and being retired, I had some time to spare so I offered to build and host it for them.
They were very clear on what they wanted and sent me very detailed screen designs which made development fairly straightforward. Much of the data on the main screen is always up to date. The highway webcams are retrieved as the page is loaded as is the weather information to make sure their users always receive up to the minute data.
The club deployed three cameras on the mountain and images are downloaded to the server every hour to limit bandwidth consumption. The server then creates a time lapse video that shows the last 24 hours so again, the users get an immediate view of current conditions on the mountain.
