The bridge was one of the first project we undertook when we moved into this really old house.   The bridge had become dilapidated and rotten in a number of areas so we decided to replace the entire structure.  We had never done anything like this before so it was rather intimidating.  Building a new bridge was a big deal for us but so was removing the old one.  We had to be careful as we did not want any debris landing in the creek as it is a salmon habitat.  The materials from the old bridge may have been rotten in many areas but they were still extremely large and heavy.  Hauling all that weight up the hill to the driveway, cutting it all up and hauling it away in a trailer was a big project for a couple of old retired folks.

We managed to get the old bridge out and we copied the design as we took it apart.  Getting the new materials down the yard to the creek was a lot of fun as well.  After struggling to get the old pieces up the hill we had to stop the new materials from rolling down the hill and landing in the creek.  We did get everything down to the creek and in place and it only took a couple of day to get he new bridge in place.  We, and our neighbours, were all very pleased with how it turned out.
